Time Out On my recent visit to a shop in Rockville for young children I saw this shocking sight. A little Time Out little chair for children. Parents who attended our Coffee with the Director session know well, we support positive discipline. A child under the age of 6, cannot process by herself/himself: she/he cannot "think about what she/he did", or "understand it was wrong." She/He probably needs redirection and guidance on how behave, what to say and so forth. (e.g. "we do not push, we touch gently, here like that, gently".) Read more on Positive Guidance Tools.

Thank Yous A big round of applause for our PTO for an outstanding Mishloch Manot Drive for Purim. These beautiful gift baskets and bags went home this week with our parents. A special thank you to Elizabeth, Ngina, Lauren, Jennifer, Janel and Zita.
A message from Karen Galanti:
Tuesday night's Wine and Hamentashen Baking event was a great success! Karen Galanti would like to especially thank Ruth Baars for demonstrating the art of creating the perfect Hamentashen and sharing the meaning behind Mishloach Manot. Also, a special "Thank You" to all who helped organize, make the dough, set up, and clean up - Janel Herman, Iris Yachin, Ayelet Lichtash, Miriam Singer, and Ngina Shulman. Thank you to Daniel and Ilana Ratner for donating the wine. This was an outstanding social event with great wine tasting and baking. We all left the school on Tuesday night with bags of freshly baked Hamantachen. Happy Purim!
Many of us probably wonder, why would we celebrate Tu B'Shvat, the Festival of the Trees in February. It is so early in the year, while the spring season in the US hasn't really started. Well, here are some nice pictures from Israel that can explain it all. Click here. Almond blossom in Israel has started this month. Jim Joseph Scholarships I have received some news that the Jim Joseph Scholarships through the Federation will be available again this year and families will apply in the same way they did last year. I do not have full details, however will post them as soon as I can. These scholarship are open to all parents of the school and potential parents. Last year few families of our school were able to enjoy this scholarship.
