Shabbat Shalom and Purim Sameach,
Morah Miriam and Morah Adi

D'vash Weekly Bulletin 2/26/10

Snack preparation is laid out first thing in the morning, and most of the children choose to do it. It varies every day. They sliced cheese and placed it on half bagels which we toasted. They chopped apples which we added to our muffin mix and baked. They have plucked grapes, and chopped Cantaloupe. They set up the prepared food on the snack table and take used dishes and spoons to their dishwashing stand to be washed later.

If you find a second Mondrian painting coming home with your children please note that this one is one they have done on their own, with guided lines, but with no other help from the teacher.

We look forward to seeing the different costumes that the children will be wearing on Friday!

Gefen Weekly Bulletin 2/26/10

It was a busy week for the toddlers. We did a lot of food preparation activities this week.First we made hamantashen and then we also made sugar cookies. All these activities in order to celebrate Purim this Friday. For our art project we decorated masks with feathers and sequins and hope to wear on  Friday.

At circle time we sing Purim songs and shake the graggers to make a loud noise to blot out the name Haman the wicked man.

Hope to see all of you on Friday in your costumes.

 Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Sharmaleen & Morah Orna.

Welcome back! We hope you had a chance to have some quality time with your children during our week off! The children were so excited to tell about their experiences with icicles, power outages, snowmen and sledding! We have been reading books about all kinds of animals as we begin our unit on animals. And of course we’ve been busy with lots of Purim projects.

Shabbat Shalom,

Morah Miriam and Morah Adi

It is wonderful to have the children back again after the little " Snow vacation." Yesterday the children chopped cucumbers and tomatoes for salad for snack. There are many crafts we are working on for Purim, and they are turning out beautifully.

Shabbat Shalom,

Morah Farhana and Moreh Efi

Judaics Weekly Bulletin 2/5/10

We had a wonderful Tu B'Shvat seder last Friday. Both Primary classes joined together, to make it more festive.  We all enjoyed eating fruits of all types, and vegetables with dip. Rabbi Palatnik came and talked to us about Tu B'shvat, and said the brachot of the food.  We also took the time to talk about the different fruits, their names and their characteristics (which peel we can eat, which seeds we eat, etc)
Now we are on to Purim. We have begun to discuss the story, the customs and some songs - we love Purim, and we are already discussing what costume to wear to the Purim party....don't forget that we all dress up for our Purim party and parade!

Shabbat Shalom!

Now that Tu B'shvat is over, we have  switched our emphasis from talking about trees and fruits, to discussing animals...Some of the children had seen pictures of Tai Shan, the panda who is returning to China from the National Zoo, in the newspapers. That brought up lots of discussions! Reading a book about bears brought a lively discussion, with lots more exploring, learning and reading to come.
Hope you enjoyed the snow day!
Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Miriam and Morah Adi

This week we learnt about the Abstract Artist, Piet Mondrian. We had a great time preparing a work in his style, which the children will bring home.We are so happy to  now have a Toaster Oven in our classroom, and  the childen will now be doing more food preparation especially for our morning snack.
